Technical assistance in nuclear safeguards

The methods developed and applied by the Institute of Isotopes in the field of nuclear safeguards are used
  • by the authorities for the verification of the inventory of nuclear materials declared by the operators
  • by the operators of nuclear installations for preparing the inventory to be declared to the authorities
For example, the techniques available at the Institute and the corresponding safeguards R&D are used by the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority in performing its tasks. In addition, several methods developed at the Institute were offered to the IAEA.
